Energy Globe - The World Award for Sustainability
Croydon Hills was the key school chosen for filming the Victorian entry to this International Award.
Victorian entry (judged 2nd out of 79 entries worldwide)

The Victorian Waste Wise Schools program has been named as a finalist in the prestigious Energy Globe World Award for Sustainability after being named as the National Energy Globe Winner for Australia.

Gould Group developed and manage the Waste Wise Schools program with funding from Sustainability Victoria.  The nomination as a finalist against hundreds of projects from all over the world provides significant recognition of Gould Group's outstanding work.

The winning projects will be presented in April 2007 in the categories of earth, fire, water, air and youth at a televised gala that will be broadcast by international TV stations from the home of the European Parliament.

Croydon Hills is the 2006 Waste Wise Primary School of the Year!

Croydon Hills is committed to providing our students with opportunities to succeed and lead.  To this end we have implemented our Junior Leadership program focusing on our young leaders as Sustainable role models.  This aspect of the program is being documented and tracked though our involvement in the ‘Teachers in Schools' Research Project in conjunction with Deakin University and the Gould League.

Croydon Hills has picked up a number of other awards, which recognise the enthusiastic student lead approach to environmental responsibility in our learning environment and beyond.  These include 2002 and 2004 regional winner awards for Waste Wise school of the Year and 2004 state winner of the Litter Free Grounds Challenge.  In May 2005 we were also finalists in the Proud Schools Category of the Sustainable Cities Awards.  In November 2005 we received the top award as Sustainable School of the Year at the annual Waste Wise and Sustainable Schools Awards.

Congratulations again!!!

The school has now been judged to be the primary school with the best Sustainablity program in Victoria in both 2005 and 2006, in addition to being a finalist in three of the four possible award categories.
CHPS has also been successful as the 2006 Primary School winner of the EPA Ecological Banner Competition announced in October.

The Sustainable Schools program has also been included in the School Charter at Croydon Hills as an integral part of its Learning and Teaching priority.
